Phineas P. Gage (1823–1860) .


BIOGRAPHY:

Was an American railroad construction foreman remembered for his improbable survial of an accident in which a large iron rod was driven completely through his head, destroying much of his brain's left frontal lobe, and for that injury's reported effects on his personality and behavior over the succeeding twelve years effects so profound that (for a time at least) friends saw him as no longer Gage.










Right hemisphere.


FUNCTION:


Is a hemisphere integrative powers center nonverbal visuospatial specializing in sensations, feelings, prosody and special abilities as visual and audible language not as art and music. Conceives situations and thinking strategies in a whole. Integrates various types of information (sound, images, smells, sensations) and transmits them as a whole. The processing method used by the right hemisphere with the type of immediate response is required in the processes visual and spatial orientation.







Left hemisphere.



FUNCTION:


The left hemisphere is the driving part can recognize groups of letters into words, and groups of words form sentences, both in regard to speech, writing, numbers, mathematics and logic, as the necessary powers to transform a set of information in words, gestures and thoughts.







SCIENTIFIC: 


John Hughlings Jackson, was a british neurologist, in 1878 discovered the left hemisphere.

BRAIN FUNCTION: 

The brain is a very general term and is understood as the process of centralization and cephalization of the nervous system that have the most species of the animal kingdom.
